Sustainability

At One Typical Day, we’re helping students navigate their first steps into the world of work, and we have sustainability at the centre of our strategy.

Our goal is to provide digital-first, high-quality careers resources, offering an alternative to the environmental cost of today’s careers industry. Our mission is to offer students high-quality, meaningful, engaging careers resources, while also reducing the waste involved in merchandise production and careers-related travel.

In this mission, we join a new wave of organisations adopting a similar approach. To learn more about the response across city-related sectors, check out the Sustainable Recruitment Alliance (in particular, their Pledge and latest Impact Report).

To get specific, here’s how we’re working to reduce our environmental impact as we build the future of careers education.

First, we take a digital-first approach. Our platform is designed to be viewed direct from a phone, tablet or laptop. No need to travel to lecture halls, attend careers fairs or pick up employer merchandise.

Second, we’re partnered with the London College of Communications / London Southbank University to explore the use of immersive, creative technologies (read more about this collaboration by clicking here). This is the kind of technology that will allow students to explore the world of work without having to travel extensively – or commit to expensive internships – in order to do so.

Third, we’re committed to showcasing a range of green jobs on our platform, as some of the very first sectors we profile. If you are (or you know of) an employer who would be a good fit for this mission, please get in touch directly here.
